Barging Solutions, an entity of MPL and our inland shipping division, provides and coordinates the best inland barging solutions for its customers. Now, we’re looking for our next hero to level up our barge team in Antwerp. You in? 

As General Manager of Barging Solutions, a separate legal entity within MPL, you are responsible for the financial performance of the barge activities, managing budgets, monitoring margins and driving a healthy and sustainable P&L. 
 
You will also be responsible for the optimisation and further development of our barge team, both from a commercial and an operational perspective. A key focus will be the daily management and coaching of the operational team. You will help structure operations more efficiently and support the team in resolving operational issues.
For the further commercial expansion of the company, we expect you to fully immerse yourself in the world of inland shipping, both from a customer as supplier perspective. You will strengthen relationships with existing customers and stakeholders and, through effective team organisation, you will also succeed in attracting new clients. Finally, managing relationships and negotiating prices with subcontractors will also be part of your responsibilities.

• You hold a higher education degree, complemented by extensive experience in a managerial and commercially oriented role. 
• You have experience in maritime transport and inland navigation, with a strong network within the industry.
• Communication is key. You’re fluent in both Dutch and English. Knowledge of any other languages is a plus. 
• Going the extra mile? Always. You are highly customer-oriented, an excellent networker, and have strong negotiation skills. 
• Furthermore, you have well-developed people management skills and are able to coach and motivate people to achieve strong results together.
• You're digitally minded, working with new technology gives you a boost.
