Impact of Middle East Situation on Global Shipping

In light of the recent escalation of tensions in the Middle East, including military actions and subsequent reactions in the region, we would like to inform you of the impact this situation will have on global logistics and shipping services

Several ocean carriers, airlines, and logistics service providers are actively reassessing their operations, routings, and risk exposure in and around the affected areas. This leads to changes in transit times, routing adjustments, capacity constraints, or temporary service disruptions.

Shipments Currently in Transit

For shipments that are already underway, carriers may decide to:

• Reroute vessels or flights to avoid high-risk areas

• Implement speed adjustments or port omissions

• Apply emergency or war-related surcharges

These measures are taken by carriers to ensure crew safety and asset protection and may result in delays and additional costs beyond our direct control.

Current and Future Shipments

For both existing bookings and future shipments, customers should anticipate the possible introduction of additional surcharges, such as (but not limited to):

• War Risk Surcharges (WRS)

• Emergency or Security Surcharges

• Fuel or Operational Cost Adjustments

These surcharges are being imposed by the carriers and may apply with limited prior notice.

Current Situation
  • CMA CGM – Vessels will proceed to shelter + possible rerouting via Cape of Good Hope. New bookings are being accepted (no reefer shipments). An Emergency Conflict Surcharge (ECS) will apply.

  • HLL – Vessels will proceed to shelter + possible rerouting via Cape of Good Hope. A War Risk Surcharge (WRS) will apply. Until further notice, HLL is temporarily suspending new bookings for reefer and dangerous goods (DG/Hazardous) cargo.

  • MSC – Vessels will proceed to shelter. No new bookings are accepted!

  • ONE – Vessels will proceed to shelter. No new bookings are accepted!

  • OOCL - Vessels will proceed to shelter. No new bookings are accepted

What will the impact be on East Med (Israel)? For the moment these ports remain fully operational.
